Mission Chesapeake Care will provide health care services to employed individuals or individuals with inadequate income who cannot afford health care and who do not qualify for other assistance programs or have health insurance.
Vision Chesapeake Care Free Clinic changes lives through education and compassionate healthcare.
Brief History Chesapeake Care was founded in October 1992 by Dr. Juan Montero, a local surgeon, who has remained an active volunteer and board member. In 2004, he was honored by The American College of Surgeons as its first recipient of the Surgical Volunteerism Award. We are a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) nonprofit organization. Our Federal Tax ID is 54-1642754. The 6,600 sq. ft. facility, located on 3.6 acres is staffed by seventeen full and part-time employees. We rely heavily on the generosity of on-site volunteers including physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, hygienists, pharmacists, nurses and medical assistants. Over 90 volunteers provide clerical support. Others volunteer to maintain the building and grounds, cook and deliver meals, conduct specific projects, shop for supplies, complete mailings, etc. When an outside referral is necessary, a strong network of volunteer professionals willingly and regularly provide specialty care and consultations at no charge. The participation of area hospitals is a critical component of our program as are partnerships with many other healthcare facilities and community agencies.
