In October, 2009, the Chesapeake Care Board of Directors embarked on a $1,000,000. capital campaign to fund a sorely needed clinic expansion at our current site. Soon afterwards, The Virginian Pilot announced a $200,000. challenge grant to kick start our fundraising effort. We are pleased to announce that on April 30, 2010, we met that very generous challenge. Thanks to our supporters at the E. C. Wareheim Foundation, the Beazley Foundation, The Chesapeake Regional Medical Center Hospital Authority, the Chesapeake Care Board of Directors and the private, church and business donations, Chesapeake Care has reached the $500,000. milestone. We are half way there! In addition to the generous support of our many donors, we have also received in-kind donations from Hassell & Folkes Engineering, RRMM Architects and the Tidewater Builder’s Chesapeake Care, Inc. has experienced unprecedented demand for our services, thanks in part to the economic downturn. Our dedicated staff and loyal volunteers have risen to the challenge. This year we have seen more patients than ever before. We also have over 1,000 individuals on a waiting list for services. In our 18 years of service to the community, we have always risen to the challenges before us. With the continued support of our community, we look forward to many more years of responding to the needs medical and dental needs of the uninsured. Stay tuned for more news on our planned expansion. |
